Bridge Book Reviews from Fifth Chair!

Californian Henry Sun will join Fifth Chair's all-volunteer staff as a bridge book reviewer this month.  All of us are very excited to see his upcoming contributions which will be available under the Bookshelf section of our website.

Henry will review about 3 to 4 books a month, and he can be reached by email at bridgedude909@hotmail.com. He will do his level best to read and respond to all the emails he receives.

Henry Sun, age 45, has been playing bridge off and on for nearly 30 years.  After learning the game in high school from his father, he took an extended hiatus from the game for nearly 12 years while he completed a Ph.D. in Religion at The Claremont Graduate School in Claremont, CA. Coming back to the game in 1992-93, he earned his gold card in less than a year and competed in the Grand National Open Pairs at the Phoenix NABC's in 1994.  He is especially interested in bidding systems and theory, has published a few articles in "The Bridge World" and other publications, and prefers IMPs to matchpoints.

Henry currently supports himself, his family, and a menagerie that includes a dog, a cat, a hamster, and a chincilla as the Vice President for Operations for CHL Mortgage in San Ramon, CA. His interests outside of bridge include professional and collegiate sports, self-help literature, and raising his 9-year old son Tyler.  Henry can often be found playing bridge online at Bridge Base Online, where his login name is HenryS.

"I am looking forward with great anticipation to this new opportunity with fifthchair.org. While playing bridge against better competition is the best way to improve, reading runs a very close second. I hope to provide some guidance to those who wish to study this fascinating card game of ours and am always open to questions, comments, and just plain talking about bridge."
